  • MSc. Master of Science (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology), University of Dhaka, Bangladesh (2009 – 2010)

Research and funding

  • Boron cross-linking of plant cell-wall pectins: role of boron-donor substrate glycolipid and histidine-rich peptide chaperones.

I am exploring the interplay between boric acid and (a) rhamnogalacturonan-II (RGII, an anionic pectin which forms RGII-B-RGII bridges), (b) certain plant glycolipids [glycosylinositol phosphorylceramides (GIPCs), speculated to bind boron], and (c) histidine-rich cationic plant peptides. This project will increase our understanding of Boron (B) metabolism in plants, potentially enhancing crop production on soils with excess or insufficient Boron.

  • Research funding: (October 2016 - March 2021)
