Qualifications

  • BSc. Bachelor of Food Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, University of Helsinki, Finland (2010-2017)
  • MSc. Master of Science (Agriculture and Forestry, major in Plant Biotechnology), Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, University of Helsinki, Finland (2010-2017)

Research and funding

  • Cellulose as a food additive and as an architectural component of living plants.

The aims of my project are a) to define the (bio)chemical properties of several cellulose-rich materials that have been observed to differ in physical behaviour when used in dispersions and b) to explain the changes in physical properties that have been noted when cellulose preparations are partially or completely dried. In addition, I will explore how the differences in (bio)chemical properties of cellulose in the plant in vivo relate to plant growth and development.

  • Research funding: (November 2017 – October 2020)

Previous Research Interests

  • I did my Master’s thesis in the research group of Yrjö Helariutta in University of Helsinki. I focused on the functions of DRQ gene in differentiating protoxylem cells of the primary roots of Arabidopsis thaliana (unpublished).
