  • Worked one year in a microbiology laboratory on bacteriocins in olives at the I.T.Q.B. Portugal

Research interests

  • Examining the metabolic fate of L-ascorbate in the cell walls of Radish (Raphanus sativus) swollen hypocotyls (edible part of radish).
  • Initial work has looked at methods of promoting catabolism of endogenous L-ascorbate. This will allow study of the catabolic products by radioactive tracer studies.
  • The study of ascorbate transport throughout the plant.

Personal Interests

I enjoy the good social scene that exists in Edinburgh. I train at the university karate club and swim to keep fit.
